Drymax Fiber Technology Knit Into Socks Effectively Removes Moisture From Skin
August 1, 2007
From press release.

Eliminates Foot Discomfort, Blisters & Odors

(Los Angeles, CA - July 30, 2007) Drymax Sports introduces sport specific sock line with its Drymax fiber technology. Independent lab tests confirm Drymax socks stay up to 25 times drier than other socks made with wicking fibers like Polyester, Acrylic, Nylon, Wool or Cotton, it was announced today by Gus Blythe, creator and developer of the new line of Drymax Socks.

MOISTURE IS THE ENEMY Moisture on the skin creates a host of problems; in hot weather it causes blisters and fuels the growth of odor-causing bacteria as well as the uncomfortable fungal skin condition Athlete's Foot. In cold/freezing weather, moisture pulls heat away from skin 23 times faster than air, lowering skin temperature so rapidly that wet feet become painfully cold and much more susceptible to frostbite.

YOU CAN'T ESCAPE THE LAWS OF PHYSICS The laws of physics dictate that no single fiber technology can attract and repel moisture at the same time. Other socks use only wicking fibers throughout which attract moisture and hold it next to the skin, keeping feet wet.

DRYMAX SOCKS ARE MADE DIFFERENTLY We designed Drymax socks with two different fiber technologies interwoven to form a dual-layer sock. On a molecular level, moisture doesn't stick to the inner (super hydrophobic) Drymax fiber terry loops allowing them to squeegee sweat off the skin into the outer (hydrophilic) moisture attracting fiber layer. This advanced design creates a self-contained Moisture Removal System keeping feet dry and comfortable in all types of footwear in cold, hot and even wet conditions. Drying time is very important. You can't stop during a marathon or tennis match to allow time for your socks to dry out. Drymax socks need NO drying time; they dry at the speed of sweat emphasized Blythe. What you wear on your feet makes a huge difference in comfort and performance. Choose your socks wisely, as if your feet depend on it, he added.

DRYMAX SOCKS - COMFORT & TECHNICAL FEATURES In addition to the dryness technological advantages, Drymax socks offer many additional features not found in other socks.

3D ADVANCED FIT & SIZING The industry typically uses 2D forms and only three sizes to cover all sizes of Women's & Men's feet which is not adequate. Drymax's five sock sizes fit because they were developed on special 3D shaped foot forms. Each sock includes a (S, M, L, XL, or XXL) color size mark for easy match-up after laundering.

PROTECTIVE PADDING - Each Drymax sock is designed with a different level of protective padding depending on its purpose. This protective padding comes in four densities: Low, Medium, Medium+, and High. By making our protective padding dense, as opposed to thick, it protects without adversely affecting the fit of the shoes.

AIR CONDITIONING - Most Drymax socks possess top and bottom mesh air vents designed to keep feet drier & cooler by working with the built-in vent systems in the newest generation of breathable shoes made by Adidas (Clima Cool, Asics, Diadora (Power Flow), Fila, Lotto, Mizuno (Intercool), New Balance (N-Vent), Nike, Reebok, and Wilson.

LONG LASTING COMFORT, DURABILITY & LOOKS - The special fibers used in Drymax socks have a comfortable springiness and do not get stiff, shrink, or lose shape over time. The whites are crisp and the colors never dull.

Drymax socks are designed to last a long time due to the use of the highest quality fibers and special abrasion resistant fiber reinforcements placed in the normal heel & toe wear areas. Consumers can save energy by not having to machine dry Drymax socks, as they are almost dry coming out of the washer's spin cycle.

ACTIVE ODOR CONTROL - The MicroZap antimicrobial additive is a silver based zirconium phosphate ceramic ion-exchange resin. MicroZap is not a topical treatment; it is molecularly infused into the Drymax fibers. This special process makes MicroZap non-migratory and non-toxic, producing permanent long-term odor control for the Drymax socks.

BLISTER FORMATION Heat, moisture and friction all play roles in the formation of blisters, and each heightens the severity of the others, thereby creating a Blister Cycle. Excess heat signals the body to produce sweat to lower the skin's temperature through evaporative cooling. Wet socks increase the amount of friction (stickiness) on the skin's surface which soften and weaken the skin. Linear or torsional movements create shearing forces which subsequently cause the skin and inner tissue to tear apart. This separation soon fills with fluid to form a blister.

ANTI-BLISTER SYSTEM - Several features work together as an anti-blister system to actively prevent the formation of blisters. 1) Exceptional 3D fit, 2) Five sock sizes, 3) Seamless insides, 4) An instep-hugging arch band, and 5) Because Drymax socks stay dry, the skin stays dry too; therefore blisters normally caused by sweat or sweat vapor are prevented.

Drymax socks can be worn all day every day for sport or casual wear and are sold in athletic footwear, running specialty, sports apparel stores and online. Drymax retailers & e-tailers can be found at www.drymaxsports.com
